BANTER IN RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LINGUA-CULTURES

The research is devoted to the comparative analysis of banter in English and Russian lingua-cultures.
The comparative analysis of the given type is being done for the first time in the home linguistics.
The short analysis of the works by home and foreign linguists devoted to the studying of distinctive characteristics of banter has been done in the research.
The analysis of the main characteristics of banter in the given lingua-cultures has been done in the research based on definitions of banter in the explanatory dictionaries of Russian and English languages and the English and Russian fiction of the second half of the 19th century and the 20th century.
